Frozen Town and Dry Temple by EmptyShadow Frozen Town and Dry Temple by EmptyShadow
Colors get funky when it comes to backgrounds so I attempted to do some exercise.
The bottom left and top right are replicas of photos touchdisky.tumblr.com/post/897… and stufftodraw.tumblr.com/post/89…,
and the ones next to them are my own attempts using same colors (with some additional colors that I tried to eyeball or "deduct")

I think for now I'll stick to imitating photos to become more comfortable with color transitions and usage of colors in general. Also it's less stressful than trying to eyeball it from the beginning and realizing that it looks nothing like anything. My eyes still get tricked with color transitions.

Again, photo references touchdisky.tumblr.com/post/897… and stufftodraw.tumblr.com/post/89…

Definitely a pain in the butt. When it goes a slight bit wrong it's a disaster.

These look really well done, especially the transition from warm to cool colours, along with the solidness of those door frames. :'D

It's well done because I had a reference. I must slowly wean myself!

I need to start doing this kind of stuff, I suck at backgrounds.

Tell me about it, the best thing I can draw from scratch is an empty, boxy room
